Apartment Moving
Studios to three-bedroom flats, third-floor walk-ups and elevator buildings, with the building paperwork handled.
Providence Premier Movers runs packing services in Providence, RI: the whole house packed the day before, or just the kitchen and the breakables. Real dish packs, clean ink-free paper, every box labeled.

Here's what nobody tells you about packing. It takes about three times longer than you plan, and the kitchen is always the reason. A two-bedroom is somewhere around 40 to 60 boxes, and 15 of those can be the kitchen alone. Two of our packers do what takes most families a week, in a day.
We bring the boxes, the paper and the tape. We go room by room, write the room and what's inside on every carton, and leave everything stacked by the door for the moving crew. Want to pack the bedrooms yourself and leave us the china? That's the most common way people book us, from College Hill to East Greenwich.

Questions?Contact UsPick as much or as little packing as you want. Most customers choose one of these four.
Everything, from the junk drawer to the back of the closet, packed the day before. You sleep one night among boxes, the crew shows up to a house that's ready, and the truck is loaded hours sooner.
You do the books, the clothes and the kids' toys. We do the kitchen, the glassware, lamps and art. In our experience that split saves the most money, because it's the fragile rooms that eat the hours.
Plates get wrapped one at a time and stand on edge in a dish pack, never flat. Glasses go in cardboard cells. It's a cooler for a day at Narragansett: heavy on the bottom, nothing rattling in the gaps.
Framed art and mirrors ride in mirror cartons, flat screens in padded TV boxes. A big canvas or a glass tabletop can get its own wooden crate if you ask ahead.
At the new place we unpack the kitchen and put dishes in the cabinets, so dinner happens on night one. Then the empty boxes and the paper leave with us. Nobody wants a living room of flattened cardboard. Not moving in yet? Packed boxes store well in our storage vaults.
Doing it yourself? We sell dish packs, book boxes, wardrobe and mirror cartons, ink-free paper, tape and mattress bags, and drop them at your door. Grocery-store boxes are fine for linens and nothing else. Once it's packed, our apartment movers take it from there.
Materials are billed only for what we use. Unused boxes go back on the truck.
Packing services in Providence cost about $450 to $900 in labor for a two-bedroom apartment and $900 to $1,600 for a three-bedroom house in 2026, plus materials. Packers bill the same hourly rates as movers, $165 for two and $215 for three. Kitchens and china cabinets take the most time.
Goodmigrations puts professional packing in Rhode Island anywhere from $500 to $5,000 for one to five bedrooms. That spread is real. We've packed a book-lined College Hill study in two hours, and a two-bedroom full of grandmother's china that took a whole day.
| Home | Packers | Hours | Labor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kitchen only, 1-bedroom | 2 | 2 to 3 | $330 to $495 |
| 1-bedroom apartment, everything | 2 | 3 to 4 | $495 to $660 |
| 2-bedroom apartment, everything | 2 to 3 | 3 to 4 | $495 to $860 |
| 3-bedroom house, everything | 3 | 5 to 7 | $1,075 to $1,505 |
A one-bedroom apartment usually needs 25 to 40 boxes, a two-bedroom 40 to 60, and a three-bedroom house 70 to 100. Count about five dish packs for a full kitchen. Bookworms and collectors should add 20 percent, because small heavy boxes fill up faster than you think.
Heavy goes low, light goes high. Pots and small appliances fill the bottom of a dish pack, plates stand on edge in the middle on a bed of crumpled paper, and glasses ride on top in cell dividers. Every gap gets paper. Our rule: if a box rattles when you tip it, something in it is going to break.
Stairs are where boxes get bumped. We keep fragile cartons under 40 pounds so one person can carry them close to the chest, mark them on two sides, and never put them under a box of books. Lamps travel with their shades packed separately, and lampshades never get paper stuffed inside. Sofas and chairs get moving blankets and then shrink wrap, so the upholstery arrives clean.
Two weeks out, sort and donate. One week out, pack books, decor and the winter coats. Three days out, everything but the kitchen basics and a change of clothes. The day before, the kitchen goes, the beds get stripped, and one box marked FIRST NIGHT holds the coffee maker, towels, sheets and phone chargers. Honestly, that last box matters more than the other fifty.
Crew size, hourly rate and a time range on paper before moving day. No cash deposits.
Pack yourself if you have a week and mostly soft things. Hire packers for the kitchen and the breakables, because damage coverage rarely pays on boxes you packed. We think that split gives most families the best deal, since the fragile rooms are where the hours go and where things actually break.
For a studio or a one-bedroom, yes: we pack in the morning and load after lunch. For anything bigger, we pack the day before. That way the move starts on time and nobody is wrapping the last wine glasses at 6 pm while the truck idles at the curb.
Yes, with a few limits. Tools, holiday decorations and sports gear pack fine. We can't take paint, gasoline, propane or pool chemicals, so set those aside for the town's hazardous waste day. Basements in older Providence houses can be damp, so we pack anything musty in plastic bins instead of cardboard.

A two-bedroom apartment usually costs $450 to $900 in packing labor, and a three-bedroom house $900 to $1,600, plus materials in 2026. Packing is billed at $165 an hour for two packers and $215 for three. Kitchen-only packing for a one-bedroom often runs $330 to $495.
Yes. Our packers show up with dish packs, cartons in every size, wardrobe boxes, mirror cartons, paper, tape and mattress bags. You pay for what we use, and unused boxes ride back on the truck. Want a head start on the easy rooms? We drop a bundle of boxes off a week early.
Boxes our crew packs are covered under the coverage you choose for the move. Boxes you pack yourself are usually only covered for damage the box shows on the outside. That is the main reason people hire packers for the kitchen and fragile things and pack the rest themselves.
Nothing flammable or dangerous: propane tanks, gasoline, paint thinner, fireworks, ammunition, cleaning chemicals. Cash, jewelry, medicine, passports and important papers should ride with you, not us. Open food and houseplants don't do well in a closed truck on an August afternoon either, so we leave those for your car.
Our two-person packing crews finish most two-bedroom apartments in three to four hours, and three packers go a little faster. The kitchen eats about a third of that. A full china cabinet, a wall of framed art or a big book collection adds an hour, so mention those when you call.
