Apartment Moving
Studios to three-bedroom flats, third-floor walk-ups and elevator buildings, with the building paperwork handled.
Providence Premier Movers are furniture movers in Providence, RI for the jobs that aren't a whole move. One sectional. A fridge going up to the second floor. A dresser you bought online in Cranston that won't fit in your car.

In our experience the damage on a small job almost never happens in the truck. It happens in the doorway. A sofa corner takes a bite out of the door frame, or a dresser gets dragged across oak floors. So the routine doesn't change for one piece: pad, wrap, strap, then protect the frames and floors, then carry it. Nothing scraped.
Two movers and a truck cover most one-to-five-piece jobs at $165 an hour, three-hour minimum. Line up two or three errands on the same trip and the minimum goes a long way.

Questions?Contact UsThese are the furniture jobs we take most weeks.
Sleepers weigh about twice what people guess. We pull legs and cushions, wrap the frame, and stand it on end when a Providence doorway needs it. Doorway first, always.
Armoires, tall dressers, china hutches. Glass shelves come out and ride separately, drawers get taped shut, and the piece goes on a four-wheel dolly wrapped in pads.
Fridges, washers, dryers and ranges ride an appliance hand truck with a strap and stair glides. You or a plumber disconnect the water and gas first. We've walked plenty of fridges up triple-decker back stairs; it's slow, and it's fine.
Home and gun safes up to about 600 pounds, ground floor or one flight. Tell us the weight and send a photo of the path. Anything bigger, we'll say so and point you to a safe specialist. Pianos have their own page: piano moving.
Found a dining table on a marketplace listing in Warwick? An armchair at an estate sale on the East Side? We pick it up, pad it in their driveway and bring it home.
Bedroom moving upstairs, a room cleared for new floors, a whole new layout for the living room. We can also move pieces into a storage vault while the work happens.
Several pieces on one trip cost less per item. Ask about combining pickups.
Furniture movers in Providence cost $165 an hour for two movers and a truck in 2026, with a three-hour minimum, so most single-item or few-item jobs come to about $495 to $660. Stairs, long carries, appliances and pickups at two different addresses push the time up. Safes are priced after we see photos.
Measure the sofa's depth and height, then the narrowest door and the tightest stair turn. If the sofa's depth is less than the door's width, it can usually go through on its side. Taking off legs and doors buys another inch or two, and a sleeper with the mattress removed is lighter.
A fridge should ride upright and stand a few hours before you plug it back in. Front-load washers need the drum braced, ideally with the shipping bolts if they're still in a drawer somewhere. Gas ranges and dryers get disconnected by you or a licensed plumber before we arrive. We don't touch gas lines, ever.
Old furniture has old joints. We lift antique tables and chairs by the frame, never by the arms or the top. Marble tops come off and ride on edge. Carved pieces get soft pads before any shrink wrap so nothing sticks to the finish. Point out the pieces that matter most to you; we load those last and unload them first.
Clearing a room for new floors or staging a house to sell? Our crews can take a few pieces to our climate-controlled warehouse and bring them back when the work's done. Wood furniture does far better there than in a damp garage or an attic that hits 110 degrees in July.
Crew size, hourly rate and a time range on paper before moving day. No cash deposits.
Yes, all the time. A single sofa, dresser, fridge or something you bought online is a normal job for our crews. Two movers and a truck run $165 an hour with a three-hour minimum, so one heavy piece across town is usually about $495. A second pickup on the same trip costs very little extra.
Yes. We use an appliance hand truck with a strap and stair glides, and a mover on each end. We measure the fridge and the stairs first, take off the doors if it is tight, and protect the stair treads. The fridge should be emptied, defrosted and dry before we arrive.
We move home and gun safes up to about 600 pounds, on a ground floor or up one flight. Send us the make, the size and a photo of the path. Heavier safes and long stair runs need a specialist with powered equipment. If yours is one of those, we'll tell you before you book.
