Apartment Moving
Studios to three-bedroom flats, third-floor walk-ups and elevator buildings, with the building paperwork handled.
Providence Premier Movers handles moving and storage in Providence, RI. Your things go into sealed, climate-controlled vaults and come back when the new keys do, three days later or three months later.

Closings slip. Leases end on the 31st and start on the 15th. In our experience about one move in five needs somewhere to park the furniture for a while. We pick it all up, keep it in our climate-controlled warehouse and bring it to the new place when you have the keys.
Think of it like a coat check. Your furniture is padded and loaded into wooden vaults, each one sealed and tagged with your name, and you get an inventory list as the ticket. Nobody opens that vault again until it's back at your door.

A few days to a few weeks while the bank, the seller or the landlord catches up. One pickup, one delivery, nothing in between. Pair it with packing and you only touch your suitcase.
Renovating a Wayland Square kitchen, a year on a work posting, downsizing into a condo. Long stays are billed monthly with no long contract, and you can cut it short with a week's notice. Your building gets our certificate of insurance on delivery day if it asks.
Wood, leather, artwork and electronics sit in a warehouse that holds temperature and humidity steady, August heat and February cold. That's the difference between a dresser that comes back the way it left and one with a split top.
Heading to Massachusetts or Connecticut before the new house closes? We hold the whole load here and drive it down once your date is firm. One crew, one box truck, no rehandling. More on that on our long distance moving page.
Selling the house? Store the extra chairs, the treadmill and half the bookshelves so rooms photograph bigger. When it sells, we move the rest and deliver the stored part in the same trip.
Brown and RISD students, this one's for you. A room's worth of boxes, a desk and a bike stored over the summer and delivered back the week you move into the next place.

Moving and storage in Providence costs about $95 to $150 a month per storage vault in 2026, plus the move into storage and the delivery out at hourly rates. A two-bedroom apartment usually fills three to four vaults, so plan on $285 to $600 a month for the storage part. Prices depend on vault count and how long you store.
| Home | Vaults | Monthly storage | Move in plus move out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio or 1-bedroom | 2 | $190 to $300 | $990 to $1,320 |
| 2-bedroom apartment | 3 to 4 | $285 to $600 | $1,720 to $2,580 |
| 3-bedroom house | 5 to 7 | $475 to $1,050 | $2,580 to $3,440 |
With a self-storage unit you rent the truck, load it, unload it into the unit, then do all of it again on the way out. Four handlings. With vault storage the crew loads once at your door and the vault rides a forklift into the warehouse. Twice handled, never sitting open in a hallway. We've seen enough scratched dressers come out of self-storage to have an opinion on this.
Rhode Island gets humid summers and winters that swing below freezing. In a hot, damp unit wood swells and cracks, leather grows mold and electronics take on moisture. Our warehouse holds temperature and humidity steady, which matters most for pianos, antiques, mattresses and anything held together with glue. Nothing comes back smelling like a basement.
One vault holds roughly one full room. Think a queen bed, a dresser, two nightstands and around 15 boxes, or a sofa, a chair, a coffee table and the TV stand. Sectionals, dining sets and pianos sometimes need a vault of their own or a padded spot on the floor. We count vaults on the walk-through, so the quote matches what you own.
Most of our short-term storage comes from house sales where the closing on the new place lands a week or two after the old one. Lenders move dates, inspections turn up surprises, and sellers ask for a few extra days. It happens a lot in East Greenwich and Lincoln. Booking storage with the move means one crew, one inventory and one delivery date you can change with a phone call.
Crew size, hourly rate and a time range on paper before moving day. No cash deposits.
Yes, by appointment. Call us a day or two ahead and we bring your vault to the loading area so you can grab what you need. Honestly, the easier fix is telling us on move day what you might want, so we load it last and it sits by the vault door.
One month. After that we bill month to month and need about a week's notice before delivery. Most of our short-term customers store for two to eight weeks while a closing or a lease catches up. A few stay for a year, and that's fine too.
Yes. A piano rides a piano board, gets wrapped and stands upright on the warehouse floor, away from outside walls. Antiques and solid wood do well in climate-controlled space. Before anything goes in, our crew notes its condition on the inventory, so you can check it piece by piece when it comes back.

A two-bedroom apartment usually needs three to four storage vaults at $95 to $150 a month each, so about $285 to $600 a month in 2026. The move into storage and the delivery out are billed at our hourly rates, $215 an hour for three movers and a truck, with a three-hour minimum.
As long as you need. After the first month we bill month to month, no long contract. We've stored furniture for two weeks between closings and for a full year during a kitchen gut job. When you're ready, give us about a week's notice so we can line up a crew and a truck.
Your things are covered at the level you choose for the move. Basic carrier liability is low, about 60 cents a pound per item, so ask us about Full Value Protection while they're in storage. Some homeowner and renter policies also cover stored items, so check yours before you sign anything.
Nothing that burns, spoils or breathes. So no propane, gasoline, paint thinner, fireworks, perishable food or plants. Anything wet has to dry out first, because damp spreads inside a sealed vault. Cash, jewelry, passports and medication stay with you. Everything else, we can usually store.
Yes. We deliver from storage anywhere in our Rhode Island service area, and into Massachusetts and Connecticut on out-of-state moves. Plenty of our customers store in Providence while a closing in Cranston, Warwick or East Greenwich sorts itself out, then deliver once the date is firm. Delivery runs at our hourly rates.
