Providence Premier Movers are movers in East Providence, RI for Rumford colonials, Riverside capes and apartments across the river from Fox Point. We pack, move and store, and we time the bridge crossing so you're not paying for traffic.

A lot of East Providence moves start two miles away, on the other side of the Seekonk River. Fox Point and College Hill renters buy their first house in Rumford or Riverside, and we carry them across. The catch is the bridge. Since the westbound Washington Bridge closed at the end of 2023, the I-195 crossing backs up badly at rush hour, so we load early and cross before the afternoon jam. Every hour we're not sitting on 195 is an hour you're not paying for.

Questions?Contact UsEast Providence comes in three parts, and each has its own day. Rumford has older colonials and Victorians on leafy streets near the Pawtucket line. East Providence Center around Taunton Avenue has two-families, capes and apartments. Riverside, down by the bay, has capes, cottages and ranches on smaller lots. Same rates in all three; the plan changes.
If the move crosses the river, pick a start time of 8 or 9 in the morning. In our experience that alone saves an hour on a typical apartment move into or out of Providence. Summer weekends near Crescent Park and the bike path get busy too. Any moving company in East Providence should tell you up front how they bill travel time over the bridge.
East Providence has 47,139 people and about 22,200 homes on 16.6 square miles, 3.3 of them water. The city sits between the Providence and Seekonk Rivers, so a lot of it is waterfront or close to it. Moves here are a mix of first-house buyers from Providence, families trading up within the city, and people heading over the Massachusetts line.
Older two-story houses with a front hall, a staircase with a landing and plaster walls. We pad the banister and the jambs, take doors off when a big piece needs the inch, and run floor runners from the door to the stairs. A four-bedroom Rumford colonial is usually four movers and a full day.
Smaller lots and narrow streets near the water, and a lot of capes with knee-wall bedrooms upstairs. Tall dressers come down on their backs. Some former summer cottages have steep stairs and small doors, so we bring a 20 ft truck when the street is tight.
Walk-ups and two-families in East Providence Center and along Warren Avenue. Two movers for a one-bedroom, three for anything bigger or higher than the second floor.
Most East Providence moves cost $510 to $2,500 in 2026. Two movers and a truck are $165 an hour, three are $215 and four are $265, with a 3-hour minimum. Travel time is billed once, usually 20 to 25 minutes. Crossing I-195 at rush hour is what pushes a move toward the top of its range.

Seekonk is next door and Attleboro is 15 minutes up the road, so a move from East Providence can be across state lines without being far at all. Even a short move like that is an interstate move under federal rules. You get a written estimate, the booklet called Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move, and a choice of coverage.
Basic coverage pays 60 cents a pound per item, which is about $18 for a 30 lb TV. Full value protection costs more and actually replaces things. We explain both before you sign anything, and we'd recommend the second for anything you'd miss.
For an interstate move, ask to see three papers before anything is loaded. First the written estimate, a binding estimate if you want a fixed price. Then the bill of lading you sign at pickup. Last, the inventory list with each item's condition. Check the mover's USDOT number on the FMCSA website too. A non-binding estimate can come in higher; on delivery you'd pay no more than 110% of it, with the rest due within 30 days.
On the house end, we lay floor runners and put door jamb protectors on every frame. The sofa gets moving blankets and shrink wrap before it leaves the room.
Our crews also work north of here in Cumberland, where the houses get bigger and the driveways get longer.
It can, because we charge by the hour and the drive is part of the job. A move that crosses I-195 at 4 pm can lose an hour to traffic. Starting at 8 or 9 in the morning usually avoids it, so that's the slot we suggest for any move between East Providence and Providence.
It's short, but it crosses a state line, so federal interstate rules apply. That means a written estimate, the federal rights booklet and a choice between basic and full value coverage. The price is still based on time and crew, much like a local move of the same size.
Yes. Boxes come down the ladder by hand, one mover up top and one at the bottom, never dropped. If the attic holds big items that came in before the ladder was installed, we check whether they'll fit through the hatch before the day.
Two weeks ahead is enough for most weekday moves. For month-end weekends, late May, early June and the last week of August, book three to four weeks out. When a crew has an open slot we take short-notice moves too, so call even if the date is close.
